US Senate votes to restrict worldwide LGBT human rights abuses


The United States Senate today passed the Foreign Relations Authorizations Act, which included an amendment that will increase involvement of U.S. embassies worldwide to monitor and intervene in incidents of anti-LGBT discrimination and violence.
The amendment ,co-sponsored by SenatorsRuss Feingold (D-WI) and Kirsten Gillebrand (D-NY), will strengthen the State Department's annual Human Rights Reports as to anti-LGBT issues, and add foreign-service officer training.
